肾病综合征具有病程长，复发率高，部分病理类型难治的特点，免疫抑制剂是目前唯一有效的药物，但长期用药可诱发感染，增加恶性肿瘤发生率以及影响生育和致畸等副作用。因此在使用过程中需掌握以下原则：掌握好适应证，合理选择药物，尽量避免副作用的产生，强调个体化治疗，若有病情需要根据不同免疫抑制剂的作用特点选择联合用药。关于激素等传统免疫抑制剂在肾病综合征中的使用方案已基本成定论，但新型免疫抑制剂尚缺乏大样本的多中心前瞻性随机对照研究以及相关经济学方面的研究结果，但随着使用经验的不断积累和循证医学的严格评价，必然会对肾病综合征的治疗起到更好的作用。
