不知是何缘故,每读到以赛亚·伯林的文字,都让我情不自禁想到我们的国粹围棋。

1939年,以赛亚·伯林出版了他的第一本、也是唯一的一本专著,即后来让一些原教旨主义者为之侧目的《马克思传》,战争旋即爆发,他离开校园去外交界度过战争岁月,战事平息后才又重返牛津的学术圈。然而在此后的大多数时间里,他似乎都不务正业。除了为就职之需而做过《两种自由观》的学术演说外,他懒得再对某种哲学体系的义理本身做深入探究,而是开始以十分口语化的方式,四处宣讲他的“观念史”,沉溺其中数十年不能自拔。因此,读他那些既写(说)得洋洋洒洒,又时而不胜繁絮,偶尔或有穿凿之嫌的观念故事,我觉得就像出自某个高段位的棋手——一个本人很少下棋,只以给我们解谱为乐事的棋手。
