1704796748 以前这个成语的用法不过于此,可是最近美国方面又增加了一种新的用法,在《韦氏国际大辞典新版》( Webster’s Third New International Dictionary)上,我们发现了增加的新义:to pay inadequate attention to or value too lightly (as a possession, right,or privilege)即是对地位、权利或特权,不加重视,或不十分注意(带有瞧不起的意思)。
1704796749
1704796750 She began to take her husband for granted until he threatened to leave her.(她开始有点瞧不起她丈夫的样子,直到她丈夫声称要离家出走,她才改变态度。)
1704796751
1704796753
1704796754 I went there as a kid and grew up with the place. They took me for granted.—— Elizabeth Wilson(我小孩子的时候到那里去,一直在那个地方长大的。

It is all Greek to me,字典上解释为“不懂”或“不解”,查希腊为文化古国,文哲名作甚多,未尝不能理解,为何在此成语中将希腊文视为难解的事物呢?

1704796785
It is Greek to me To the Memory of My Beloved, the Author Mr. William Shakespeare (quite incomprehensible or unintelligible to him.)
