从以上的实证结果出发,可以做下列几点探讨。第一,丑闻报道在香港有不同的处理手法,有些大众报纸表现得很煽情。但我们不能推论说整体香港报纸对网上艺人祼照事件的报道都很煽情。我们要具体看不同的报纸,并要承认有些报纸仍能紧守专业道德,不随便做煽情报道。

第二,此事的报道清楚地反映了香港的不同报纸类型。大众化报纸比较煽情,但因应其具体的目标读者、资源及排版方式,同类型报纸中也有些变化。就如大众报纸也分为主流大众报纸和二线大众报纸,精英报纸也要分为综合型和财经型。如前所述,英文报纸是个异数,在研究上较难处理,财经报纸也和其他类型有别。如果将它们放在一个连续的光谱之中,财经精英报纸对一般丑闻最不感兴趣,其次是政党报纸,然后是免费报纸。接下来是综合精英报纸和二线大众报纸,而最煽情的是主流大众报纸。

第三,“煽情指数”的建立,是迈向将煽情这个概念数量化的第一步,方便日后作为一种比较和测量的工具。但本文只是一个尝试,方法和细节上仍可改进,尤其是如何能把它“客观化”和“绝对化”,不太受事件或事件脉络所影响,是努力的方向。

最后,本文发现在裸照事件报道中,出现一些混乱的情况。一个主要的原因是,原来应放在娱乐版的消息,被移送到本地新闻版甚至是要闻版。每个版面有其相对独立的运作逻辑和方式,当版面之间的界限被打破或模糊化,记者发现他们不知如何处理新闻。读者也不知如何接受这些新闻讯息,不知道应期望收到什么。科技发展一日千里,互联网威力惊人,令打破及模糊界限变得平常。这对新闻工作者和报道的方法有深远的影响,也是媒介批评研究的一个新方向。
