1704867089 “平衡报道”(balanced reporting)是新闻学专业的重要规范,它和公正、中立和客观都是让新闻工作人员可以扮演好“守门人”或“中间人”角色的核心价值;而新闻工作人员体现“平衡报道”的方法便是让持对立立场或观点的新闻事件相关人士,都成为新闻报道中的消息来源,并且各方论点在新闻内容中都获得大约等比例的报道。“平衡报道”对于科学新闻之报道尤其重要,因为即使是受过科学报道专业训练的新闻工作人员在面对突发性科学新闻事件时,往往也没有足够的时间或专业知识来判断特定消息来源所提供的信息之正确性,此时援引各方看法除了可以确保新闻报道内容之公平、中立和客观外,同时还能够充当效度检核以提高新闻报道内容之正确性。尤其是报道高度争议性事件之新闻工作者,更应该避免“煽色腥主义”,同时力求公平、精确,亦即透过慎选新闻来源来达成平衡报道(Fico & Soffin,1995)。
