同声传译，顾名思义，是一种翻译者与说话者几乎是同步的口译。与现场口译（交传）相比，同声传译最大的特点是，时间差小，因而要求有很快的反应速度。当翻译与被翻译的语言之间在句子结构上有迥异时，同声传译会变得异常困难。同声传译虽然有一整套比较成熟的技巧，但是，语言本身的积淀仍是做好同声传译的关键所在。没有五年的交传经验加之五年的同声传译洗练，则很难达到一个同传翻译应该达到的基本水平。
