I first met Jing Wang at the Manaslu base camp, a petit prettyChinese woman with an air of confidence, but at that time Ithought she was out of her comfort zone. However a few dayslater I heard that she not only reached the summit of Manaslu, butalso returned to base camp on the same day.

Of course I never thought that I would actually see Jing again asshe would return to China and I to France. So it was a surprisewhen she contacted me in 2009 to ask if she could join myexpedition to Everest .

Although reserved, I found that she had a tremendous capacity forwork other than climbing on the mountains. Somewhat reluctantto do the basic acclimatization progress, but on summit days sheseems to pull out incredible power and strength and is able toreach the summits with what appears to be relative ease.

We have now been on several expeditions together, and it isonly from this time together that I have become to know muchmore about this interesting lady. Not only is she a mountaineer,but she is also an astute businesswoman. Starting a small tentmanufacturing company with her husband, this has now grown intoa huge corporation demanding intense negotiations and attentionto detail. But furthermore, Jing is also a caring mother of twodelightful daughters, that is when she is not travelling to variousparts of the globe. Her appetite for adventure travel is demandingand how she is able to dedicate time to such projects as well asrun her normal life is impressive.

But what is even more impressive, is her caring for others who areless fortunate than her in these countries she visits, as well as herconcern for the environment. No matter where Jing is, in Chinaor Nepal or another country, she shares her views and concernsabout pollution of our mountains and actively becomes involvedwith various projects that not only makes us aware, but also haspowerful results.

2007年9月，我参加西藏圣山探险公司组织的登山队，攀登世界第六高峰——卓奥友。在队伍中，认识了年轻的王静。

卓奥友的适应训练中，王静每次都是最后一个抵达营地，高山反应强烈，行走吃力缓慢，不思进食，异常痛苦。我惊讶地获悉，该小女子之前仅仅登过乞力马扎罗，既没有雪山结组经验，更没接受过攀冰攀岩训练，如此“大跃进”式地攀登8000米以上雪峰，不仅登顶无望，很可能还会出现意外，拖累整个队伍的登顶计划。

果不其然，攀登路上，王静一路发烧，测血氧含量仅为42。队医建议她放弃攀登，王静却选择了继续。在抵达海拔7300米的突击营地时，王静整整晚到了3个多小时，这时已是夜晚9点钟，而队伍要在凌晨2点钟出发攻顶。我理所当然地认为，她早已体力透支，无论意志多么坚强，根本不可能继续攀登。

活泼的女队员，无疑是雪山里的一道风景，但我对“她们”却一直比较排斥，原因无外乎是，女队员相对娇气、任性，说小了是麻烦多，说大了，是会增加整个队伍登山的风险。

凌晨，冲顶的队伍冒着风雪出发，其中竟有王静的身影。这一段路，我按原计划尝试无氧攀登，背包里有氧气瓶，却没有戴上氧气面罩，行走迟缓，落在队伍后面。

一路暴风雪，登上8000米的位置，我的肺部像要爆炸一样，喘不上气，不得不吸上氧气继续攀登，很快赶上了队伍，并往前“超车”。
