就项目不同阶段的参与的不同方面，本文提出了一种思维方式和展现方法。在表2和表3中，我们说明了设计以外的许多领域的参与概念是如何与我们的参与框架联系起来的。我们提供了一种图解工具，有效地描述参与的深度、广度、范围及产出，我们还阐明除了作为组织工具以外，如何有助于为构建更高阶的概念化提供基础。其他研究者可以运用该图解，传达并阐明其他研究以及自身工作中的参与概念。为便于更广泛的应用，我们提供了一个在线免费图解模板，有Excel和Matlab两种格式（http://www.brighton.ac.uk/sdecu/resources.htm）。

请注意，这篇文章不是要论证参与在设计中的重要性和必要性，也不是说所有的设计都应用参与去界定。参与框架本身不是作为一种目的提出的，而是旨在作为一个重要的概念辅助工具，以便就参与开展进一步的讨论—澄清、区分、统一有关概念。我们把这作为一种工具提出来，希望不同领域的学者和从业者能够更加快捷轻松地认清彼此的话语，加深理解，形成彼此相连的知识体系。我们希望，这将有助于逐步形成有关—跨学科—参与的牢靠知识基础。
