在译稿即将付梓之际，译者的任务已经完成，但译者的心情却并不轻松，因为有众多人要感谢，还有一些话要说。

2008年，北京师范大学出版社李雪洁编辑通过中央编译局当代马克思主义研究所杨雪冬副所长邀请我翻译这本文集，出于对文集内容的兴趣以及对北京师范大学出版社的敬仰，我欣然接受了这项工作。鄙人虽学非专攻，但长期以来对人文地理学的研究非常关注，也一直有所涉猎，并且该书中涉及的哲学理论又是自己的专业领域，因此一开始以为这项工作并不会太艰难。但是，实际情况超出了我的乐观估计。本文集作为批判人文地理学系列丛书之一，主题虽然很明确，但内容涵盖面较广，各个作者的风格又不尽相同，加之译者水平有限，因此，翻译的进度没有赶上原定的计划。在此，我要对为本文集出版付出努力的所有工作人员特别是李雪洁编辑和杨雪冬副所长表示歉意和谢忱。如果没有他们的信任和督促，这本译著可能就无法完稿了。

中国历来是翻译大国，翻译于中华文化，无论在古代还是在近代，都有着不可忽视的重大影响。然而，现如今译著较之专著，学术分量却判若云泥。译者的付出和艰辛常常不是被忽视，就是被误解。著作者一般被视为原创者，而翻译者则常常被看做是模仿者。依我愚见，翻译对于译者而言，着实可形容为精神历险。语言的创新、思想的交流、文化的碰撞、领域的融合，凡此种种，都可以在翻译过程中加以体会，个中滋味，恐怕也只有译者自知。
